Remembering our dear Mother Angelica on Friday’s Morning Glory with Brandon McGinley!

Join us we kick off the weekend on EWTN radio discussing the breaking news of the day including the potential confirmation of HHS Secretary nominee, Tom Price–set for 2am ET in the wee early hours of the morn! We’ll also discuss the supposed ethical violations of Kellyanne Conway basically giving Ivanka Trump’s fashion line a small commercial on White House grounds–and we will talk about why Planned Parenthood has yet to release their annual report–and what perhaps might they be hiding!

Guests include Elizabeth Ficocelli who occasionally fills in for our host, Brian Patrick–as she reflects on the Feast of our Lady of Lourdes–which we celebrate this weekend! Her new book: Font of Faith, Hope, and Charity explores a fascinating look at Lourdes, one of the world’s most popular Marian places of pilgrimage. The book includes the history of the apparitions to Bernadette Soubirous, the response of the Church, the advent of cures and pilgrimage, and Lourdes today as a powerful center for physical, spiritual, and emotional healing. Featuring interviews with the bishop, medical director, and other key personnel of the sanctuary. Foreword by Fr. Benedict Groeschel, nationally acclaimed scholar, theologian, author, speaker and host of “Sunday Night Live with Father Benedict Groeschel” on EWTN. Learn more about Elizabeth by visiting http://www.ElizabethFicocelli.com.

We’ll also celebrate a big win for First Liberty Institute! They reached a settlement agreement between the State of Georgia and First Liberty’s client, Dr. Eric Walsh. The State of Georgia agreed to pay $225,000 to settle Dr. Walsh’s religious discrimination lawsuit.  “I am grateful this trial has finally ended,” Dr. Eric Walsh says. “It’s been a long, difficult journey, but it’s worth it to have my name cleared and to ensure that all Georgia government employees know they have religious liberty.”

Jeremy Dys, Senior Counsel for First Liberty Institute and counsel for Dr. Walsh, says:

“This is a clear and resounding victory for religious freedom,”  “We always knew the law was on our side, so we are pleased the State of Georgia agreed to settle this case and clear Dr. Walsh’s good name.”  Dys will join us to explore what this case might mean for other religious freedom violations. Dr. Walsh, a lay minister and former Georgia government employee, filed a lawsuit against the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) after evidenced surfaced that he had been fired because of his religious beliefs.

And we’ll also learn more about our beloved Foundress Mother Angelica with Brandon McGinley of EWTN Publishing. A new collection of her reflections on Christ and His Mother is now available through EWTN Religious Catalogue – and Brandon helped compile this new addition of Mother’s wise words. Tune in to hear more about “Mother Angelica on Christ and Our Lady” – a book that explores her prayerful approach to spiritual life!

We look forward to hearing from you! Feel free to leave a comment or question here and we’ll definitely share on-air and get back to you promptly!

Blessings,

Alyssa Murphy

  2. I found the comment made by the priest guest (and the accompanying laughter from the hosts) on your program after the audio from Attorney General Sessions confirmation remarks to have been in very poor taste. Jeff Sessions is a Southerner and speaks with the characteristic drawl. He was also one of the most principled and intelligent members of the Senate and an excellent choice for a cabinet position in the Trump White House. More importantly, he is unquestionably an ally of Christians in this country in the struggle to preserve and restore religious liberty. His record on abortion and the homosexual agenda is likewise stellar. You may disagree with him on certain other issues on which Catholics of goodwill may disagree. I think he is basically right on immigration, affirmative actions and capital punishment, for what is worth. For the first and only comments about him made after the news story to have been a silly reference to a character on a stupid TV show from the 1970’s was undignified and unworthy of your fine program. Finally, I don’t even have to pose the question as to whether a similar mocking comment would have been made regarding Sessions’s two predecessors at the Justice Department. I think we all know what the answer to that one would be and the reason why.
